NOSE WORK/SCENT SEMINARS
Nose Work Seminars with Jacy Kelley
Saturday, November 22, 2025 & Sunday, November 23, 2025

Jacy is a former K-9 Handler for the US Airforce and the Government. In 2010 Jacy left the working world and started Canine Copilots, LLC. Jacy spent a long time learning about detection in the pet community and developed his program with aspects from both the pet and working world with a focus on relationship building, fun and good communication. Jacy is a judge for trials and has participated in many nose work camps offered by Dogs of Course in the past. Jacy trains for competition as well as for fun. He believes that if you are having fun, you will also have success in the competition world.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2025 • 7:30 am - 4:30 pm
CONTAINER MYSTERIES
This workshop will focus on container searches and the problems associated with container searches in trials. The workshop will consist of common missteps and their causes. We will explore training techniques that will help to strengthen your container searches. The searches will begin with simple searches and work up to difficult distractions and random containers.
Working teams of all skill levels are welcome, provided the dog is working on odor only. Searches and strategies will be tailored to the level of the working teams. Each team is requested to bring three (3) containers. It will allow us to have a large assortment of containers to work with.
Handlers trialing at any level are welcome to audit. Auditors will not be working their dogs.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2025 • 7:30 am - 4:30 pm
THE ROLE OF THE HANDLER
Nose work is a team sport, each member of the team has a role and responsibilities in the game. Jacy will be setting up training scenarios and explaining what the human’s role is in the search. We will cover leash handling, footwork and when to guide your dog to areas, when to leave those areas and many other human focused handling skills. Your dog needs to be on odor and able to find hides without pairing consistently.
Handlers trialing at any level are welcome to audit. Auditors will not be working their dogs.
